Naval Air Facility Atsugi, Japan, recently added features to its Web site to appeal to residents past and present.

Atsugi veterans can now share memories and link up with other former base residents by logging on to "Your Atsugi History," the base’s new online historical database, accessible from the Atsugi home page.

Atsugi public affairs officer Tim McGough said the database was created after people assigned to the base 20 years ago requested ways to connect to past friends.

"We thought it would be beneficial to create a site where former NAF Atsugi residents could submit their information to share with others," McGough said in a news release.

The site also now includes links to the base’s official Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Shutterfly and YouTube pages.

"Being overseas, it is important that we try to cover all communication avenues and attempt to reach various age groups," McGough said.

The base’s Web redesign began in January and was part of a Commander Navy Installations Command regional launch that included Navy commands in Diego Garcia, Misawa, Okinawa, Sasebo and Yokosuka.

To visit the Web site, go to https://www.cnic.navy.mil/Atsugi/index.htm .

"Your Atsugi History" can be found under "Community" on the home page.
