Army officials have identified the 172nd Infantry Brigade soldier who died in a home-based accident on Saturday.
Staff Sgt. Tim Rancore, 45, was pronounced dead at 11:30 a.m. at the Eschenbach City Hospital in Germany after he was injured in the accident, a press release stated.
German and American authorities are investigating the death.

The vehicle’s driver, a man, was injured in the collision.
The Humvee was leading a convoy from 5th Maintenance Company, 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. It was traveling on Autobahn A70 near the town of Rossdorf, Germany, which is northeast of Bamberg, when the accident occurred.
Soldiers with the convoy gave first aid to both accident victims until an ambulance arrived. The female passenger died at the scene, and the driver was taken to a local hospital, according to the release.
The accident is under investigation by U.S. military and German police.
