KADENA AIR BASE, Okinawa — Six Air Force F-15 Eagles from the Kadena Air Base’s 44th Fighter Squadron will participate in the first phase of Pacific Air Forces exercise Commando Sling ’09 in Singapore from Friday to Nov. 24.

Based out of Paya Lebar Air Base in Singapore, Commando Sling will be a series of four deployments running through April, according to a news release. The exercise involves the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps and the Singapore air force.

The services’ fighters will conduct air-combat training, in which different types of aircraft will fly missions against each other, the release said.

Six U.S. Air Force F-16 Falcons from the 51st Fighter Wing, Osan Air Base, South Korea, will participate in the second phase of the exercise from Jan. 30 to Feb. 23. Participating forces for the third phase are still to be determined.

Six U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 Hornets from the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, will participate in the fourth phase in April.
