The 30th Medical Brigade became the 30th Medical Command (Deployment Support) last week during a ceremony in Heidelberg, Germany.
The 30th is now the Army’s first medical deployable support command, according to a unit news release. As a result of the change, the unit is now under the control of U.S. Army Europe instead of the Army’s Medical Command.
"The 30th MEDCOM represents an awesome enabling force for the commanding general of the U.S. Army Europe and 7th Army in combat health support, medical logistics, evacuation and humanitarian services," said USAREUR Command Surgeon Brig. Gen. Keith W. Gallagher during the ceremony.
"The 30th MEDCOM will provide the requisite medical command and control to deliver timely and responsive health support services on the modern modular battlefield," Gallagher said.
