AAFES announced that the deadline to submit entries for a rap/jingle contest that had been scheduled to end last week has been extended through the end of October. Entries must focus on one of four themes:
What AAFES means to the entrant;The benefits AAFES provides military shoppers;The savings found at base or post exchanges;What AAFES means to the military community.The winner will receive a $500 shopping spree and have his or her submission heard on publicity spots around the globe.

New leader for NATO’s warning force selectedAir Force Maj. Gen. Stephen D. Schmidt has been selected to lead NATO’s Airborne Early Warning Force, according to a Pentagon release. Schmidt, who commands the E-3A component of the force at Geilenkirchen Air Base in Germany, will move to Casteu, Belgium, to assume his new duties.
