SEOUL — A South Korean naval officer was awarded the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal during a ceremony Wednesday in Seoul, according to a U.S. Navy press release.

Rear Adm. Thomas Rowden, Commander U.S. Naval Forces Korea, presented the award to Cmdr. Jeon Jae-hyo for work Jeon did as a mathematics instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy from December 2004 to December 2006, according to the release.

“This is a great honor and something I never expected for something I did which seems so little,” Jeon said in the release.

Osan Air Base general in line for second starOSAN AIR BASE, South Korea — An Air Force one-star general serving at Osan Air Base has been nominated for a second star.

Brig. Gen. Harold W. “Punch” Moulton II has been nominated for promotion to major general, the office of the Secretary of Defense has announced.

Moulton currently serves as vice commander, 7th Air Force (Air Forces Korea), and chief of staff, Air Component Command.

A 1978 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, he has served as commander of Joint Task Force-114, supporting NASA’s 2005 effort to return the space shuttle to space. And he was deputy commander of Joint Task Force-Katrina, which provided hurricane relief to the U.S. Gulf Coast region.

Moulton is a command pilot with more than 4,100 flight hours, and has flown the F-15A-E, F-5E, T-38, C-130, C-12, E-3, KC-135, T-37 and AT-38B, according to his official Air Force biography.

He was promoted to brigadier general in September 2005.
