KADENA AIR BASE, Okinawa — A Kadena Middle School teacher died Monday, according to a Department of Defense Dependents Schools-Okinawa release Monday.
Jim Weaver, a science teacher at the school for 15 years, died Monday on Okinawa. He is survived by his wife and son.
“Jim will be missed greatly by his family and friends in West Virginia, friends and colleagues in Okinawa, and all of his students, both past and present,” according to the release.
DODDS-Okinawa was unable to provide additional information Tuesday.
Marine dies after bus crash in AlabamaFORT RUCKER, Ala. — A Marine who was among more than 20 injured when a bus overturned at an Army base died Monday.
The civilian driver was charged with reckless driving.
The bus overturned Sunday at Fort Rucker, an Army aviation training center in southeast Alabama. The Marines were leaving the training area after a weekend exercise, according to a Fort Rucker statement.
The driver’s name and that of the Marine who died have not been released.
Sentence reduced for doctor who made sex tapeANNAPOLIS, Md. — The military has reduced a prison sentence for a Navy doctor convicted of using a hidden camera to record Naval Academy midshipmen having sex, a Navy spokesman said Monday.
Cmdr. Kevin Ronan, sentenced to three years and 10 months, will serve two years if he is a model prisoner, said Guy Schein, a spokesman for the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in Washington, where Ronan was assigned.
