CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — The Green Line, the buses that connect Marine Corps bases on Okinawa, has returned to its regular hours now that the restriction to bases has been lifted.

The express routes’ final departure times are 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Navy team detonates WWII-era mineNavy explosive experts on Tuesday safely detonated a World War II-era mine off the coast of Yap after a diver found the object in the water off the Micronesian island, according to U.S. Naval Forces Marianas.

The device was found 110 feet below the surface by a local marine biologist, according to a Navy press release. Six Navy explosive ordnance disposal experts arrived on the island on Monday and detonated the mine Tuesday.

Nearby roads and areas were closed prior to the explosion, the press release said. The detonation caused a slight turbulence on the surface of the water, the release said.

O-Club to host Texas Hold ’Em tournamentYOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — Players must sign up for the base’s Early St. Patrick’s Day Texas Hold ’Em Tournament by Tuesday.

The event is scheduled for March 15 at the Yokota Officers’ Club. A social and sign-in begin at 4 p.m., with play starting an hour later. Spectators are welcome.

The top two prizes are a $1,000 ITT travel voucher and $500 AAFES gift card.

The entry fee is $15 and includes a classic Irish buffet featuring corned beef with cabbage and Irish stew. Green beer and Irish drink specials available at additional cost.

Youth football champs to conduct free campYOKOSUKA NAVAL BASE, Japan — Yokosuka’s 2007 U.S. Forces Japan/American Football League champion Seahawks will conduct a free youth football camp March 29-30 on Berkey Field behind Purdy Gym.

“We will be teaching the fundamentals,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Robert Cole, the Seahawks’ head coach, who said the camp is the team’s way of giving back to the community.

Tackling, catching, throwing, blocking, punting and kicking are on the itinerary.

“This is not just open for the kids,” Cole said. “Area coaches are welcome to come out and learn some drills to bring back to their teams.”

Participants should come dressed for the weather, and although tennis shoes are permitted, cleats are preferred.
