KADENA AIR BASE, Okinawa — Construction that began in January to repair Kadena’s outside runway has been extended, according to an Air Force release Friday.

The project was extended after engineers conducting a final inspection noted deficiencies in the pavement, according to the release.

The contractor is correcting the problem and should complete the project in November, the release said. The project included regrooving, removing rubber, sealing concrete joints, repainting, and replacing and repairing asphalt and concrete sections of the runway.
