The Marine Corps wants to know what Marines think of their boots.

A new survey on the Marine Corps Systems Command Web site asks Marines to comment on any weaknesses of the hot and temperate weather infantry combat boot, a recent Corpswide message says.

“Program Manager, Infantry Combat Equipment is particularly concerned with boot sole separation, stitching, durability and comfort issues,” the message says.

All personal data collected will be kept confidential, according to the Marine Corps Administrative Message (MARADMIN).

Units downrange not having retention troubleUnits downrange are having little trouble meeting their retention and re-enlistment goals, officials said Thursday.

According to Multi-National Corps—Iraq officials, the fiscal year 2007 goal for Army re-enlistments in Iraq was met on Aug. 15, six weeks ahead of schedule.

In fact, officials said, 18,721 re-enlistments had been recorded, while the goal was 16,510 theater-wide. That figure included 5,945 “mid-career” re-enlistments, officials said.

“Meeting and exceeding re-enlistment goals is a powerful message about the commitment of today’s force and how our soldiers feel about the Army and their mission,” Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno, commander of Multi-National Corps—Iraq, was quoted as saying.
