Tell us a little bit about your job as an entertainer.

I like to do card tricks, and tell jokes while I am working to try to keep the customers entertained and coming back for more. I want to make their visits to the Self-Help Store memorable. People get bummed out to just wait around, but I want people coming back here, even when they don’t need anything. Some customers do that. Some say, “Let me show you my card trick and I’ll show you mine.” I like to give ’em a dose of DiDonna.

What tricks make the visit memorable?

The kinds of tricks I like to do are quick card tricks. One reason I perform is so there are not so many silent moments; like when waiting for the documents to print. So instead of just standing there I fill it in with entertainment.

So you don’t like awkward silence?

Yes, that’s just lame. I just can’t stand it when people come into an elevator and they don’t say anything, they just stand there looking at the numbers of the floor. That’s usually when I give them a joke.

OK, what might you throw at them?

First joke: “How did the butcher introduce his wife?”

“Meat Patty.”

That’s a joke I like to tell them in the commissary.

One more: “What did one snowman say to the other?”

“Smells like carrots.”

Who is your favorite magician?

Well, I guess my favorite magician would have to be Criss Angel. That guy is a nut! He can fly over trees and splits people in half in the park. And he walks on screwdrivers and stuff.

Does your approach to people ever get annoying?

Maybe one time out of two days we’re open someone will say, “Are you OK? Are you on drugs?” I don’t let it get to me because so many people enjoy it. I’d say 90 percent of the time people enjoy my approach.

Which living person do you most admire?

I like Will Ferrell, but I don’t admire him or anyone else. We all have our faults.

Which trait do you admire the most in people?

Love, because faith, hope and love are all good, but the greatest is love. Love conquers all, and that’s not just a cliche.

We hear you want to be a recruiter?

Yes, I figure I love talking to people, and I love the Air Force, so what better way to do both the things I love? Talking to kids who don’t know what they want to do and are working at Burger King, those are the kids we want. You can take my picture and put it in the place of Uncle Sam and say, “DiDonna wants you!”

Tell us about being so young and having so much responsibility.

I got married right when I turned 19, and I have loved every minute of it. Also, our son is just about 2 years old now, and he is the most fun I have ever had. My son is just starting to wave bye to people and he blows them a kiss, complete strangers.

Are you expecting more children?

We are expecting another child. My wife is six months pregnant right now with another boy. I am so excited for my son to have a little brother; it is going to be great.

How do you work out your aggressions?

My wife and I have a PlayStation 2. It’s great, we can box each other and we won’t even get in trouble.

Tell us about your favorite video game, “Dance Dance Revolution.”

DDR is only the best game ever invented. It is where fun meets exercise; you don’t find something like that every day. It’s entertaining. I brought it to the Middle East and hooked it up to the big screen and danced in front of everybody and they watched me and cheered me on and some people actually danced, too. I pump everybody up with “The Sprinkler.”

What is your motto in life?

Hakuna matata. It means no worries. But my trademark is, “DiDonna, it’s Italian. Give me a spicy meatball.”
