A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday for a Bamberg soldier killed this week in Afghanistan.
The Pentagon on Thursday identified the soldier as Spc. Ryan J. Connolly, 24, of Vacaville, Calif.
Connolly was killed June 24 in Khogyani, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his vehicle hit a land mine. Connolly was a member of the 173rd Special Troops Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team.
Vilseck sets memorial for 2nd Cav soldierA memorial will be held Friday, at 11 a.m., in Vilseck, Germany, for a 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment soldier killed in action in Iraq last week.
Staff Sgt. Du Hai Tran, 30, of Reseda, Calif., died in Baqouba, Iraq, of wounds suffered when a roadside bomb exploded near his unit while on patrol. Tran was assigned to the Vilseck-based 2nd Cav’s Fires Squadron.
The service will be held at the Rose Barracks chapel.
