U.S. and German officials are investigating a motorcycle accident near Heidelberg, Germany, on Wednesday in which a V Corps soldier was killed.

The soldier, who was not identified pending notification of next of kin, was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Special Troops Battalion at Patton Barracks in Heidelberg.

According to a V Corps news release, the soldier was traveling on a road between Leimen and Gaiberg Wednesday evening when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a sign.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by German medical personnel.

95th Reconnaissance Squadron changes leadersRAF MILDENHALL, England — Leadership of the 95th Reconnaissance Squadron changed hands on Thursday, as Lt. Col. David Wiegand relinquished command to Lt. Col. Christopher Cohoes, according to an Air Force spokesman.

Cohoes comes to RAF Mildenhall from Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., where he was the 55th Wing’s chief of safety. Wiegand is slated to become the chief of global intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance at U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt, according to the news release.

Gas drops five cents a gallon for regular unleadedA gallon of regular unleaded gasoline will cost 5 cents less at Army and Air Force Exchange Service stations throughout Europe starting Saturday.

Thanks to declining prices in the States — on which AAFES’ prices are based — a gallon of unleaded regular gas in Germany will cost $3.32, down 5.1 cents. In Germany, other grades of fuel — super unleaded and super plus — will drop 4.6 and 4.3 cents a gallon, respectively.

Diesel fuel will fall 1.7 cents, according to an AAFES news release.

In the United Kingdom, super unleaded will drop 5.7 cents a gallon, and super plus will drop 5.4 cents.
