A Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily-based sailor will spend nine months in jail after a military judge found her guilty this week of bigamy, Navy officials said.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Daphne Smith, 25, also must forfeit her pay of $866 a month for the nine months and will be reduced to E-1. The military judge found her not guilty on a charge that she forged a divorce decree, Navy officials said in an e-mail Wednesday.

Navy lawyers dismissed a fraudulent-enlistment charge before Smith’s special court-martial started in Sigonella on Monday.
