Fuel sold through the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Europe costs about a nickel a gallon more starting Saturday.

The increase, which went into effect immediately after midnight, is directly related to a similar increase in stateside prices.

Prices for regular and midgrade gasoline have both gone up a nickel, while premium has increased 4.6 cents. Diesel has gone up 6.3 cents.

In Germany, a gallon of regular goes for a fraction more than $2.40 beginning today. In the Netherlands, super unleaded sells for a fraction more than $2.72, while the same grade in the United Kingdom goes for a little more than $2.45.

According to AAFES, prices for all grades of fuel in the Netherlands, including diesel, were set at the “floor” selling price, as were the prices for premium fuel in the Azores. At “floor” prices, AAFES sells fuel at the cost it pays plus its distribution costs.
