Music Row Records recording artist Floyd VanLaningham will give free performances at military bases across Japan through March.
“They are my friends, my people,” VanLaningham said, referring to servicemembers. “I want them to know that we appreciate everything they are doing.”
Backing VanLaningham will be the band Waterfront, which includes retired Master Chief Petty Officer Gary Bernhard on the drums.
“Floyd is a brilliant writer,” Bernhard said Tuesday at Yokosuka Naval Base. “The shows will include some cover tunes ranging from ZZ Top and Aerosmith to Floyd’s music from his last three CDs. Also, we’ll be debuting the first single from Floyd’s upcoming CD scheduled to be released later this year.”
