LANDSTUHL, Germany — The Landstuhl Regional Medical Center’s Nutrition Care Division commemorated the completion of a three-phase dining facility renovation Wednesday.
Among the upgrades are a new kitchen and a remodeled dining area. The core of the renovation was made in the kitchen.
Patrons should benefit from the changes, according to Spc. Jason Hill, a cook. “With the new equipment, we can make a whole lot more food dishes faster,” he said.
The facility — which serves as many as 1,600 people a day — started the $3.8 million renovation in October 2005. During that time, kitchen staff worked out of temporary facilities.
While rooms are bigger and equipment is more dependable, Spc. Benjamin Kable, a cook, is most happy about the improved air circulation in the kitchen. “It’s a lot cooler in here. It was like an oven before.”
