SEOUL — Two Seoul American High School students will be interviewed Friday by syndicated radio personality Mike Gallagher after they helped raise more than $36,000 for children whose parents died in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The program will be broadcast live starting at 10 p.m. Friday (Korea time) on Gallagher’s Web site.

Students Donald Lee and Mina Kim helped organize a 7K “Walk for Fallen Heroes” at Yongsan Garrison on April 2 to raise money through donations and sales of food, bracelets and T-shirts. More than 2,000 people attended the event.

Michelle Pell, a teacher at the high school, said a $5,000 check already has been sent to Heidi Sims for her son Colin’s education. Heidi’s husband, Capt. Sean Sims, a former Seoul American High School student, was killed in action in Iraq last November.

Gallagher also runs Gallagher’s Army, a foundation that encourages charitable giving and volunteerism. Pell said last week that $25,000 of the money raised at the walk was contributed to Gallagher’s Army, which distributes scholarships for children of slain servicemembers.

In an e-mail this week, Pell said the students will talk in their interview about the walk, living in a military community and their participation in the Renaissance Program.

The Renaissance Program recognizes academic achievement through awarding incentives, Pell wrote, including “Get Out of Homework,” and “Get Out of Quiz” cards. Seoul American also gives away prizes.
