DARMSTADT, Germany — The European Parent Teacher Association announced the winners of its annual awards in education last week.

Kim Bibeau of Naples High School was named volunteer of the year; Mary Ellen Cravotta of Mark Twain Elementary School was named educator of the year; and Landstuhl Elementary/Middle School was chosen as the PTA unit of the year.

Recipients of European PTA Scholarship Awards included Ehrin Hopkins of Patch High School in Stuttgart, Jennifer Oughton of Ramstein High School in Ramstein, Sara Greenberg of Würzburg High School and Lauren O’Gara of Gen. H.H. Arnold High School in Wiesbaden.

Those recipients will be honored at this week’s PTA spring conference, according to the PTA.

The PTA also announced the winners of its annual literature and arts awards.

The 2004-05 Reflections Program honors outstanding accomplishment in literature and the arts by DODDS-Europe students in four age groups.

Winners in literature were Shannon Spence of Patch Elementary School, Sarah David of Mark Twain Elementary School, Sara Ann McDonald of Naples American High School and John Calvin Stewart of Ramstein American High School.

Winners in photography were Jack McDonald of Naples Elementary School, Zachary Rohrberg of Kaiserslautern Middle School and James Walker Green of Landstuhl Elementary-Middle School.

Winners in visual arts were Alexa Lee Bowerman of Landstuhl Elementary-Middle School, Luke Santoni of La Maddalena Elementary-Middle School, Stephanie Marie Howard of Heidelberg Middle School and Lillie Jones of Würzburg American High School.

Winners in music were Imani Hinton of Patch Elementary School, Anna Harrington of Landstuhl Elementary-Middle School, Molly Ruth Musselwhite of Schweinfurt Middle School and William Mori-Ramos of Würzburg American High School

The students’ works will be sent to the National PTA level for judging. They will receive their awards at this week’s spring PTA conference, where their work will be displayed, according to the PTA.
