The Benelux Chapter of the educational fraternity Phi Delta Kappa has announced the winners of its annual awards for educators and community members. They include:
William Greenawald — Benelux Chapter Kappan of the Year, for his role in spearheading fund-raising efforts and aiding the chapter’s exchange program with a school in Ukraine.Nadiya Ananyeva — Research in Education Award for her work with First City Gymnasia, Cherkasy, Ukraine, the school involved in the chapter’s exchange program.Tom Larscheid, Brussels — Friend of Education Award, for his role in documenting the exchange program.Retired Lt. Col. John J. Greene, Waterloo, Belgium — emeritus membership award.Judi Nicolay, Brussels American School, Belgium — teacher of the year.Jon Allen, Brussels American School — outstanding school volunteer.Betty Nilsson and Thomas Nilsson, both of SHAPE High School in Belgium — distinguished retiring teachers.Pat Reesman, Lake Oswego, Ore. — philanthropy award for her financial donations to the Ukrainian exchange program.The winners will be honored at a luncheon in Brugge, Belgium, on May 15.
