NAHA, Okinawa — A Camp Kinser Marine was arrested Sunday, accused of stumbling drunk into a home in the Wakasa district of Naha, according to an Okinawa prefectural police spokesman.

The 22-year-old corporal, assigned to the 3rd Force Service Support Group, is accused of entering the third-floor apartment through an unlocked door at 4 a.m. Sunday, according to a police report, which stated that a 37-year-old resident of the home woke to find a stranger in his room.

The Marine fled, the police spokesman said, but was apprehended a short time later by police who spotted him hiding behind a car in a nearby parking lot. A Breathalyzer test detected 0.4 milligrams per liter of alcohol on his breath, exceeding the 0.15 percent legal limit, the police spokesman said.

The suspect was arrested at 5:25 a.m. Sunday and held in the Naha lockup until being turned over to his command Monday, the spokesman said. A misdemeanor charge of trespassing was referred to the Naha District Public Prosecutor’s Office.
