WIESBADEN, Germany — Members of U.S. military communities in Germany gathered Thursday to pay homage to veterans as the Veterans Day holiday weekend approached.

In Wiesbaden, James Mann, commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 27, was keynote speaker of a commemoration at Clay Kaserne, speaking on the importance and value of America’s veterans. Col. David H. Carstens, commander of U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden, and Command Sgt. Maj. Sa’eed A. Mustafa, the garrison’s command sergeant major, along with Mann, presented a remembrance wreath at the POW-MIA memorial during the ceremony.

In Kaiserslautern, veterans were special guests of a commemoration on Panzer Kaserne. Retired Command Sgts. Maj. Theodore C. Spellacy and Arthur F. Peete were among those attending the ceremony as special guests. Members of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command color guard dressed in military uniforms past and present for the occasion.
