He scored three goals Friday as the Samurai posted a 7-1 victory over the Panthers. Apple netted three more goals on Saturday, raising his career total to 102, in Perry’s 9-1 romp over Yokota.

Apple is within seven of the DODDS single-season record of 48 set in 2001 by Zama American’s Jimmy Flatley. The Pacific record is 61 by Remco Rademaker of Seoul Foreign in 2008.“He has a natural knack for putting the ball in the net that can’t be taught,” said his coach, Mark Lange. “He’s quick. He’s a natural. And he’s fortunate to have teammates who get him the ball, teammates who are unselfish.”

She clocked 13.9 seconds in the 100, 27.0 in the 200 and 1 minute, 2.4 seconds in the 400. Her coach, Al Garrido, insisted that James “wasn’t running all that hard” on Saturday.James, who holds school records in the 200, 400 and part of both the 400 and 1,600 relays, is currently the “premier track athlete at Kinnick,” Garrido said. “She’s the type of athlete any coach would want on the team and our girls team is flourishing with her as our captain. She has proven she is willing to do what she needs to do for the team.”
