KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Despite losing funding because of sequestration, the military’s annual bodybuilding and figure invitational went on Saturday with support from volunteers and sponsors.
The event drew one of its largest field of competitors in recent years, and saw a crowd of hundreds nearly fill the auditorium at Kaiserslautern High School.
While in previous years athletes and spectators had to pay to enter, this year’s competition was free for everyone, with sponsorship from the Kaiserslautern Landstuhl Spouses’ Association and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center Bravo Company Tier III.
