BasketballBaumholder at AFNORTH Friday and Saturday While DODEA-Europe’s largest schools are locked in battle, some of its small-school title hopefuls look to continue breakout winter seasons. Two of those squads - the AFNORTH girls and Baumholder boys - will take the court in Netherlands this weekend. Both those teams own undefeated divisional records, and while this weekend’s games between Division II AFNORTH and Division III Baumholder won’t count for divisional purposes, they’ll mean plenty for each team’s psyche ahead of the tournament. The AFNORTH girls haven’t lost this calendar year, a streak that includes a perfect 4-0 mark against Division II teams. The Lions’ efforts have positioned them as the best candidate to unseat reigning champion Black Forest Academy. The Baumholder boys dismissed another Division III rival last weekend in a pair of routs of Alconbury. The 10-0 Bucs can complete an undefeated overall schedule with wins against AFNORTH this weekend and Spangdahlem Feb. 16-17.
