RAF MILDENHALL, England — An airman from RAF Lakenheath, England, will spend one month behind bars for smoking marijuana and lying about it to investigators.

Staff Sgt. Michael L. Parish of the 48th Equipment Maintenance Squadron admitted his guilt at a court-martial Saturday to charges of wrongfully using marijuana and making a false statement, according to a press release from the 48th Fighter Wing public affairs office at RAF Lakenheath.

Parish smoked marijuana on several occasions between Sept. 13 and Dec. 7, 2004, according to the release. When confronted by Air Force investigators, he knowingly tried to deceive them by denying their claims, the release said.

He also was reduced in rank to airman basic and given a bad-conduct discharge from the Air Force.
