The U.S. Air Force has announced three appointments affecting Germany and Afghanistan.

Maj. Gen. Kevin J. Kennedy, director of the Air Component Coordination Element of the Air Combat Command in Kabul, Afghanistan, has been assigned director of requirements and integration, J-8, Headquarters U.S. Joint Forces Command in Norfolk, Va., according to a news release issued by the Pentagon on Friday.

Replacing Kennedy is Maj. Gen. Robertus C. N. Remkes, director of plans and policy, J-5, Headquarters U.S. European Command, Stuttgart-Vaihingen, in Germany.

And replacing Remkes is Brig. Gen. Paul G. Schafer, director of special programs for the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for acquisition, technology and logistics at the Pentagon. Schafer has been selected for the rank of major general.
