I am also one of your overseas readers who is upset by the change in your format. As was pointed out in the Oct. 17 letter “Turned off by paper’s new look,” the paper has lost its feel and impact in its new, reduced format — and not only due to the loss of comics and TV listings. It doesn’t even seem to cover local issues and news to the extent it did before; it seems to have a “glossed-over” feel to it now.

I’ve read that part of the reason for the format change is due to a lack of sales income. If this is due to the fact that hardcopy sales are declining, I would ask you to look internally to see how much online readership has increased. After all, why should I pay for something that I am offered for free? I submit that I, and perhaps others, would be willing to pay an online subscription fee ($1 a week, like the home delivery rate) if I was paying to receive the same expanded issue that I had in the past.
