TOSHIMAEN SWIMMING POOL (Tokyo): July 9 & 10; Outdoor waterpark at Toshimaen amusement park has a giant complex of waterslides called Hydro Polis, and seven different types of swimming pools, a diving pool with 1- and 3-meter diving boards and a 50-meter pool for competitive swimmers; summer one-day pass (swimming pool/unlimited ride in amusement park): 4,300 yen adults, 3,300 yen children A (height of 110cm or greater), 2,500 yen for children B (height less than 110cm) / swimming pool pass: 3,800 yen adults, 2,800 yen children A, 1,800 yen children B; 3-25-1 Kouyama, Nerima-ku, Tokyo; Toshima-en Station, Seibu Ikebukuro Line; 03-3990-8800.

OISO LONG BEACH (Kanagawa prefecture): Through Sept. 11, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Oiso Prince Hotel's swimming pools along the coast of Sagami Bay; one-day pass: 3,500 yen adults, 2,500 yen junior high/high school students, 2,000 yen elementary school students, 1,000 yen ages 3-6 and after 2 p.m. it is 2,500 yen, 1,500 yen, 1,000 yen and 500 yen for each; 546 Kokufu Hongo, Oiso Town, Naka-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture; free shuttle from Oiso Station, JR Tokaido Line; 0463-61-1111.
