Triberg, a village of 5,000 residents nestled in the Black Forest, lays claim to Germany’s largest waterfall. Against this backdrop, a six-day celebration that kicks off on Christmas Day keeps the spirit of the season alive just a wee bit longer.
The glow of 900,000 lights enhances Triberger Weihnachtszauber, or Triberg Christmas Magic. The event also features fire shows, musical entertainment and a fireworks display. Visitors can walk through a 100-meter tunnel of light, stroll through a Christmas village or watch wood carvers at work. Younger guests might enjoy toasting bread over a campfire or seeing live animals in a manger scene.
Performing artists include The Voices of Glory, with daily performances, and The Golden Voices of Gospel, on stage Dec. 28. The waterfall is the site of a fire show staged five times a day. Fireworks go off at about 9 p.m. Dec. 27-30.
Adult entry is 12 euros. Those 8 and younger enter for free. A family ticket for two adults and two children costs 30 euros. Visit www.triberger-weihnachtszauber.com, which has an English link.
