The Festival de Jerez in Jerez de la Frontera near Cadiz focuses this year on the evolution of 21st century flamenco dancing and the artists who are trying innovative ways to express the dance’s spirit.

The festival, which opens Friday and runs through March 10, will feature top performers in 30 shows in the Teatro Villamarta, Sala Compañía and Palacio de Villavicencio. In addition to the dancing, famous names in song and guitar will perform. Flamenco courses will be offered with leading maestros instructing.
