Guertel NightwalkLocation: Lerchenfelder und Hernalser Guertel, Vienna, Austria Date: Aug. 25 (from 7 p.m.) Night owls will be in their element as 17 clubs and locales along what’s normally a heavily trafficked ring road host 70 live music acts and DJs playing a broad mix of genres. Cultural Harbor FestLocation: Copenhagen, Denmark Dates: Aug. 24-26 For a taste of what life might be like for residents of Denmark’s hip capital, look no further than its harbor area, where more than 150 cultural associations, sports clubs and countless volunteers unveil the passions that make them tick. Over 250 activities, from trying new sports to arts and crafts projects, await exploration. Stalls and food trucks cater to all cravings. Free water shuttles ferry visitors between the six venues. International BeatleweekLocation: Liverpool, England Dates: Aug. 22-28 For seven days and seven nights, the music made famous by John, Paul, George and Ringo will carry through the air as 70 tribute bands from 20 countries pay homage to the legend. Fans of the Fab Four have plenty of anniversaries to celebrate in 2018, including fifty years since the release of the White Album. Each day offers ticketed events celebrating the Beatles legacy, along with daily live music at the Cavern Club and Cavern Pub. Museum Embankment FestivalLocation: Main Riverbanks, Frankfurt, Germany Dates: Aug. 24-26 (from 11 a.m. daily) One of Frankfurt’s best assets is its wonderful museums, which lie at the center of these festivities. Culture is also on full display, with stage shows offering music, theater, dance and more. Guided tours, special exhibitions, workshops and international culinary specialties add yet more dimension to a day out. This year’s guest of honor is the country of Georgia. Dragon boat races take place throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday, and fireworks light up the night from 10:30 p.m. Aug. 26. ZunftmarktLocation: Bad Wimpfen, Germany Dates: Aug. 25-26 (from noon Aug. 25 and from 11 a.m. Aug. 26) A charming ancient hilltop town makes an ideal setting for a medieval market with a focus on handicrafts of the times. Craftsmen from silversmiths to potters to glassblowers are all on hand to show off and sell their lovingly crafted wares. The usual cast of Middle-Ages characters entertains with their antics, shows and songs. Admission: 8 euros for adults, 5 euros for ages 14 and under and those wearing convincing medieval costumes, and free for small children. Website: www.zunftmarkt.de

WeinmarktLocation: Stadtpark, Mainz, Germany Dates: Aug. 23-26 and Aug. 30-Sept. 2 This wine fest set in a roomy park is a showcase for the wines of the Rheinhessen growing region. On Saturdays and Sundays a special zone is set up for children by the flamingo pool, and the Rosengarten is the site of a stands selling sparkling wine and a crafts market. Concerts take place nightly. Admission: Free; the “Schlenderweinprobe” offers a chance to sample wines from eight vintners at a cost of 13 euros, sampling glass included. UitmarktOosterdok and Marineterrein, Amsterdam, Netherlands Dates: Aug. 24-26 (8 p.m.-midnight Aug. 25; 11 a.m.-midnight Aug. 26-27) This popular festival offers a preview of the upcoming cultural season with a massive 386 performances across 27 stages. San Marino ComicsLocation: Historical Center, City of San Marino Dates: Aug. 24-26 The tiny republic of San Marino hosts its fifth edition of a comic con appealing to a fans of everything from Harry Potter to dinosaurs or Game of Thrones. The steep and twisting streets of the capital lead visitors to zones dedicated various aspects of comics, from video and board games to Cosplay.
