Location: Downtown Heidelberg, Germany Date: March 31 (starting at 3 p.m.) Heidelberg Early Summer Procession (Sommertagszug) This traditional parade to welcome the spring begins at the St. Anna Gasse and then passes through the Old City as far as Marktplatz. The colorful procession is led by Liselotte von der Pfalz. Drummers, musicians and attractively costumed marchers delight both ears and eyes, while special pretzels are a welcome treat for younger participants and bystanders. Children march through the Old City sporting special rods that are adorned with a pretzel, an empty eggshell and brightly colored ribbons.Admission: Free
