Biker ManiaLocation: Saalbach Hinterglemm, Austria Dates: June 7-10 For one weekend in summer each year, this lakeside village turns into a haven for Harley-Davidson riders. Bikers from all Europe and converge here to party down, ride en masse, watch shows in the Motodrom, show off their motorcycles and admire those of others. RetroRonde van Vlaanderen, RetroRonde of FlandersLocation: Oudenaarde, Belgium Dates: June 9-10; main event cycle ride takes place from 8:30 a.m. June 10 Cyclists riding bicycles built prior to 1987 or at least styled to look old put on their best vintage outfits and enjoy a leisurely Sunday ride together. They choose to follow routes of 40, 75, 100 or 160 km through the Flemish Ardennes, up and down the same cobblestone roads covered by racers in the Tour of Flanders race so famous. Cyclists can halt at scenic locations along the way to refuel with drinks and local specialties. Registration for the ride opens on Saturday; on the day, there’s a jumble sale of retro articles, short group rides and a retro soiree. Prazska Muzejni Noc/ Prague Museum NightLocation: Prague, Czech Republic Date: June 9 (7 p.m.-1 a.m.) On the second Saturday of June each year, Prague’s museums and galleries keep their doors open late into the night and lay on events to appeal to a wide range of tastes. Around 50 cultural institutions take part in the event. Special shuttles ferry visitors between the participating venues. Open Garden Squares WeekendLocation: London, England Dates: June 9-10 Behind London’s urban landscape are nestled countless wee green gems. For one weekend each year, it’s possible to explore hidden spaces tucked beyond immediate sight. Some of the 200 open gardens offer a cultural program as well. Wiesbaden Theatrium/ Wilhelm Street FestivalLocation: Wiesbaden, Germany Dates: June 8-9 (noon-2 a.m. next day June 8; 11 a.m.-2 a.m. next day June 9) Theatrium, also known as Wilhelmstrassenfest, changes the attractive avenue in front of the Kurhaus into the site of a massive street party. Visitors can watch acts and entertainment across several stages, shop for gifts and accessories at an artisan’s market, and sample food and drink from around the world. Kids have their very own zone with entertainment and activities geared to their interests. They will also enjoy the wit and whimsy of numerous walking acts. Busker’s ChurLocation: Chur, Switzerland Dates: June 8-9 (2 p.m.-midnight both days) More than 30 acts, most performing solo or as duos, dazzle and amuse with their surprising acts. Musicians, acrobats, clowns, magicians and puppeteers are just some of the artists performing their shows. If you enjoy an act, be sure to throw a coin or two into the hat, as the artists receive no compensation for their performances.
