Tripel Dagen/Triple DaysLocation: Market Square, Bruges, Belgium Date: July 19-21 (concerts begin at 8 p.m. July 19 and 20 and at 5:30 p.m. July 21) Concertgoers by the thousands flock to medieval Bruges’ gorgeous main square for three evenings of concerts. Two bands play on Thursday and Friday, and on Saturday, four bands take to the stage. Admission: 2 euros July 18-20; on July 21, entry is free. Bayerisches Jazzweekend/ Bavarian Jazz WeekendLocation: Regensburg, Germany Dates: July 19-22 (from 5:30 p.m. July 19-20; from 11 a.m. July 20-21) As home to the Bayerisches Jazzinstitut, beautiful Regensburg’s connection to jazz is strong. The sounds of blues, boogie, Dixieland, experimental, Latin and other genres ring out in more than a dozen locations. Artists are a mix of amateurs and seasoned pros. Prague Folklore DaysLocation: Prague, Czech Republic Dates: July 19-21 (from 2 p.m. July 19; From 10 a.m. July 20-21) In what's billed as the biggest event for folk dance and music in Central Europe, amateur folklore ensembles of all kinds perform on stages in front of the Rudolfinium, Lesser Town Square, and Republic Square in the Old Town. Around 60 singing and dancing groups, marching bands, flag wavers, carnival groups and others take part, including ensembles from Australia and Luxembourg. 'Montmartre Flair'Location: Bad Wimpfen, Germany Dates: July 21-22 (11 a.m.-8 p.m. July 21; 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. July 22) This charming hilltop town by the Neckar takes on the flair of the Parisian quarter for which the event is named as artists and craftsmen present their works in the alleys and streets. Paintings, sculptures and other treasures are to be had; some of the artists will demonstrate the secrets of their work on-site. A French market tempts with a range of tasty treats, soaps and other productions. Street musicians from a local school play old-fashioned instruments from time to time. Ulm Schwoerwochenende/ Ulm Oath weekendLocation: Ulm, Germany Dates: July 21-23 The city celebrates its history with a Serenade of Lights in which columns of water shoot through the air and thousands of candles float down the Danube (at nightfall on July 21); an open-air concert featuring German pop artist Dieter Thomas Kuhn (8:15 p.m. July 22), and the mayor’s traditional pledge of allegiance to his citizens, followed by a colorful procession of small, decorated boats down the Danube (4 p.m. July 23). Klassik Open Air/Classic Open AirLocation: Luitpoldhain, Nuremberg, Germany Dates: July 22 Klassik Open Air in Nürnberg More than 100,000 music lovers make their way to a park where the Nuremberg State Philharmonic Orchestra performs a musical program including traditional classical music and pieces from operas, operettas, ballets and musicals. Visitors are welcome to spread out on the grass and enjoy a picnic while listening. Blues’ n Jazz Rallye/ Blues and Jazz RallyLocation: Pfaffenthal, Clausen and Grund, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg Date: July 21 (6 p.m.- 3 a.m. next day) One of the city’s best attended events on its annual calendar is this music marathon in which 89 concerts are performed on open-air stages in picturesque corners of the city and the cafes, clubs and restaurants of the Old Town. Gladmat FestivalLocation: Stavanger, Norway Dates: July 18-21 The country’s largest food festival gives some 200,000 foodies the chance to sample creations based on quality, locally sourced ingredients made by some of the world’s best chefs. Exhibitors display a range of tasty and trendy foods, including fusions of traditional dishes with preparation techniques or ingredients from distant lands. The handsome city by the bay is divided into various zones serving fresh seafood, craft beers, international tastes and other culinary delights.
