BAUMHOLDER, Germany — The first thing that hits you when you walk in the door is all of the bras.

There must be a couple hundred of them hanging from the rafters at Coyote Ugly, the latest addition to the nightlife scene in Baumholder.

The bar, part of the franchise made famous by the movie of the same name, opened on Dec. 15 after a lightning-quick renovation of the old train station in town. The theme of the place is pretty basic: booze and babes.

From the sexually suggestive writing on the walls to the flirtatious bartenders and ubiquitous display of women’s undergarments, this isn’t the sort of place to bring mom or a first date.

The Coyote Ugly signatures are front and center: fire-spitting demonstrations, classic rock, singing and bar-top (clothed) dance routines.

For the more adventurous, there are body shots and (germaphobes steer clear) shots spit from one mouth to another.

The bar opens at 8 p.m., but the action usually starts around 10 p.m. and continues into the early morning hours. Several hundred patrons pack into the establishment during the weekend. Fridays and Saturdays are said to be the busy nights, though even Thursdays can get wild at times.

On a recent Thursday visit, however, the atmosphere was relatively calm around 9 p.m. with a small crowd of soldiers drinking beer, doing shots and chatting up the friendly bartenders.

“We’ve been coming here every night since they opened,” said one soldier, who declined to give his name.

“Fridays and Saturdays, it’s a huge party. It’s really upbeat. They play good rock music. The security is really good. There hasn’t been one fight,” said another soldier, who also declined to share his name, explaining that his boss doesn’t need to know about his party preferences.

So, for those looking for a spectacle while throwing down a few beers, Coyote Ugly might be the place for you.

Just keep an eye out for bartenders armed with a camera, otherwise your mug might end up here:
