As work continues on the new Rhine Ordnance Barracks Medical Center, one structure that stood out for its odd dimensions is coming down.
The skinny, two-story building located near the entry gate is being torn down, a demolition that is part of the ongoing construction process for the hospital, according to Army officials.
For three years, the construction team used the “mock-up” facility to test materials and products for the hospital’s exterior, including windows, doors and facade components, the Army said in a statement last month.
On Wednesday, the building was in the process of being demolished. The new hospital is scheduled to be finished sometime in 2027, Army officials have said.
Once complete, the new hospital will replace the nearby Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and Ramstein Air Base’s 86th Medical Group Clinic.
