Stores, most doctor’s offices and other businesses will be closed in Kaiserslautern on Thursday for the Corpus Christi holiday.

Corpus Christi, or Fronleichnam, is a Catholic feast day that celebrates the belief in the real presence of the body and blood of Christ in the Eucharist. It is traditionally marked by church services and processions throughout Germany. It falls 60 days after Easter Sunday.

Gas stations, many restaurants and some bakeries are expected to remain open, but Americans looking to shop or take care of business off-post should plan accordingly. Most offices and stores will resume normal operations Friday.
