Festival season is upon us as we move closer to summer. Check out some of our top picks for outdoor fun in the area this weekend.

Bad Duerkheim Town Festival: The Bad Duerkheim festival has been in full swing since Wednesday, and the town is keeping the party going through the weekend. Enjoy a variety of live music, children’s theater performances, and some of the best wine and food in the region. There’s also a Sunday shopping opportunity with multiple businesses in the city center from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Check out the full performance schedule and more here.

Kaiserslautern Children’s Festival: Get the kids out of the house and into Kaiserslautern on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The town square will transform into a giant adventure playground, sure to thrill the youngest visitors with bouncy castles, face painting, crafts and music to help the little ones burn off all that extra energy.

The “Murph”: It’s never too late to get “beach body” ready, and the Northside Fitness Center on Ramstein has a hero workout sure to challenge newcomers and veterans alike starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The workout includes two 1-mile runs, pull ups, push ups, and air squats in honor of U.S. Navy SEAL Michael P. Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005. Scaled exercise options are available for all fitness levels at this free event.

Roller Derby: There’s still plenty of high octane entertainment to be had if you’d rather stay indoors. The Kaiserslautern Roller Derby is hosting an action-packed doubleheader at the Kurpfalz-Realschule to kick off the 2026 season on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for 7 euros, and children 10 and under are free.

Spring Fest at Lichtenberg Castle: The castle in Lichtenburg, about 30 minutes northwest of Kaiserslautern, hosts an annual fest on Sunday from from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Visitors can enjoy the herb market offering flowers, spices, oils, soaps, decorative items and more. Live music, food, and drink round out the day along with free admission to the museum of natural history Geoskop and the museum of local history.
