Travelers flying out of Frankfurt Airport will need to double-check their departure location starting this week as the airport begins opening a new terminal.
The first flight is scheduled to depart Thursday from the airport’s new Terminal 3, located on the south side of the airfield across from Terminals 1 and 2, according to a statement on the airport’s website. Airlines will begin shifting departures from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 that day to allow renovations to begin on Terminal 2.
A timeline showing when each airline will move to the new terminal is available here.
Drivers can access Terminal 3 directly from the highway, but airport officials warn travelers to follow signage carefully and confirm their terminal in advance, as parking and drop-off areas are separate from the existing terminals.
Passengers can also reach Terminal 3 using the airport’s SkyLine train, which runs from Terminal 1 about every 2 minutes and takes roughly 10 minutes between terminals. Bus services will drop passengers directly at Terminal 3, and rail passengers arriving at the airport can connect to the SkyLine for transfer.
