A German pilots’ union has called on the Lufthansa Group to strike, canceling hundreds of flights and disrupting travel at major hubs across Germany.
The strike began Monday and is expected to last until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, according to the union’s website.
Airports in Frankfurt and Munich are bearing the brunt of the disruption, with widespread cancellations reported on their websites.
Those with Lufthansa flights scheduled for Monday and Tuesday are strongly encouraged to check their flight status before heading to the airport, officials said.
Some Lufthansa flights to the Middle East are exempt from the strike due to ongoing regional conflicts, according to the union.
