Protest planned in Frankfurt Thursday evening

Members of the Kaiserslautern Military Community are advised to avoid downtown Frankfurt on Thursday due to a planned protest, according to U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz officials.

The protest is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in Frankfurt’s city center, according to a post on the city’s public order office Facebook page.

The demonstration coincides with the anniversary of the imprisonment of Ekrem Imamoglu, the mayor of Istanbul, Turkey, the post said. Organizers expect between 200 and 300 participants.
