Rheinland-Pfalz will hold a statewide warning day on March. 12, 2026. (X)
Sirens will fill the air in and around Kaiserslautern around 10 a.m. on Thursday as the city supports the Rheinland-Pfalz statewide warning day.
The goal is to test the warning systems, raise public awareness of warning messages and test the procedures in the new Civil Protection Situation Center at the State Office for Fire and Disaster Protection in Koblenz, according to a Kaiserslautern city message released Tuesday.
Pre-recorded loudspeaker announcements will also be tested via the sirens. Warning messages may also appear via cellphone broadcasts. The all-clear signal will be issued across all systems at approximately 10:45 a.m.
The statewide warning day in Rheinland-Pfalz takes place every second Thursday in March and complements the nationwide warning day, which takes place annually on the second Thursday in September.
