One man died late Monday and another remains in critical condition after a double stabbing Saturday evening on Kaiserslautern’s Fruchthallestrasse, German authorities said. A suspect is in police custody and under investigation for manslaughter.
The violence stemmed from an argument between two men, ages 18 and 20, investigators said. During the altercation, the 18-year-old allegedly stabbed a 22-year-old man who was with the 20-year-old, fatally wounding him in the back. The 20-year-old was also stabbed in the chest and remains in critical condition.
The suspect suffered eye irritation from pepper spray and was arrested later that evening on Berliner Strasse, authorities said.
Authorities have not released the names of the victims or the suspect.
