The fire from Valentine’s weekend is dying down, and temperatures might be dropping, but don’t let the winter weather freeze you out of all the fun to be had in the KMC. Here are a few things going on this weekend:
Recreational sports: It’s a perfect time to kick it in to full-gear with spring just around the corner. The Ramstein women’s flag football team is hosting tryouts on Friday at Vogelweh. Pickleball has arrived in the KMC, bringing fun, fast-paced action to the Vogelweh Fitness Center every Tuesday and Friday night. Golfers can hit the links on Saturday at the Woodlawn Golf Course for an interesting 100 yard challenge sure to test their mettle. Click the links above for more information.
Baumholder comedy night: Maureen Langa headlines the Saturday Night Comedy Show from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Rheinlander Community Club, Bldg. 8085 on Smith Barracks. Langa is an internationally acclaimed standup comedian, broadcaster, TEDx Talk speaker and corporate event host who was a semifinalist on Season 18 of “America’s Got Talent.” Featured comedian Bengt Washburn has been a performer at top comedy festivals and a guest on numerous radio programs. His television appearances include Comedy Central, “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” and ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien.” Tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door.
Discover the Almond Trail: Get out and explore a regional delight on the Palatinate Almond Trail from Feb. 21 to Apr. 6. The Palatinate Almond Weeks invite visitors to experience a landscape filled with blossoming almond trees, local cuisine and a variety of events along the German Wine Route. Numerous restaurants offer special almond menus, complemented by regional wines. The trail spans approximately 62 miles and can be explored in seven stages. Shorter circular routes and easily accessible trails also make almond blossom viewing an ideal outing for day visitors. Click here to learn more.
Dive-in Movie: Make a splash at the Ramstein Aquatic Center for “Ice Age” on Saturday at 2 p.m. Grab a pool noodle or float, or relax poolside for this family movie afternoon. This movie event is included with normal admission to the aquatic center. Don’t let this family fun drift by!
