Construction work on a key rail line in the Kaiserslautern area will bring increased noise and possible travel disruptions in early April, according to a notice from Deutsche Bahn.
The rail operator said maintenance and modernization work will take place between Kaiserslautern and Enkenbach from April 3 to 13 as part of a broader effort to upgrade tracks and stations across Germany.
During the project, crews will renew one section of track and remove a rail switch, a movable track component that allows trains to change lines, Deutsche Bahn said. Work will be carried out around the clock and involve heavy machinery, including track renewal trains, excavators and cranes.
Rail officials warned nearby residents to expect increased noise during the construction period, including overnight work. While disruptions cannot be ruled out, Deutsche Bahn said it will try to keep impacts as limited as possible.
The project is part of a long-term infrastructure upgrade effort, with the company investing about 1.6 million euro in the Kaiserslautern area, according to the notice.
Travelers are advised to check updated timetables and construction information at Deutsche Bahn ticket offices, online and at ticket machines. Additional updates are available at www.bahn.de/baustellen.
