Keeping warm in the Kaiserslautern Military Community just got a bit more expensive.

Kaiserslautern’s municipal utility provider, Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern, raised its household gas prices on Jan. 1, according to a letter sent to customers.

The base monthly fee for residential gas service increased from 10 euros to 10.83 euros. The variable consumption rate rose from 7.32 to 8.19 euro cents per kilowatt hour, with high-volume users (over 150,000 kWh) now paying 8.27 euro cents, up from 7.4.

Despite the hike, the gas storage levy has been reduced to zero, which the utility says could save an average household about 60 euros per year.
