A severe weather warning issued by the German weather service Thursday morning forecasts strong winds across the Kaiserslautern Military Community.

The alert remains in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday. Wind speeds between 40 and 50 mph are forecast, with gusts above 60 mph possible in exposed areas.

Intermittent heavy rainfall is expected to accompany the wind, though conditions are expected to improve ahead of the weekend, the service said.
