Lautrer Kerwe: Kaiserslautern’s annual autumn festival returns to the Messeplatz this weekend for 11 days of merriment and fun for all ages. Gates open at 5 p.m. on Friday. The Pfälzer Rhythmusfetzer Steinwenden eV will kick off the fun with a parade at 6:30 p.m. followed by the 7 p.m. keg tapping by Mayor Manfred Schulz. Peanuts on stage: Laugh, sing and relive your favorite comic strip moments at this charming musical on Kleber Kaserne Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” brings the Peanuts gang to life with big heart, witty songs and plenty of feel-good fun. Advance tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for youth, seniors and students. Tickets are $18 at the door.
USO Fall Fest: Grab your costumes and join the USO on Saturday for their annual fall fest. This free, family-friendly event features music by DJ Nola, snacks, pumpkin decorating and more from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pulaski Park on Vogelweh.
Outdoor fun in Pirmasens: Explore the “Witches’ Gorge” with Kaiserslautern Day Tripper on a spooky season Volksmarch. This trail is especially magical in October with golden leaves, mossy cliffs, forest streams and even a little waterfall. Keep your eyes out for handmade witches hidden along the gorge. The hike starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Parkplatz Hexenklamm.
Sunday Shopping: Numerous shops in Kaiserslautern’s city center and commercial areas will open their doors to from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., offering a unique shopping experience to celebrate the Kerwe’s return. All public parking spaces in Kaiserslautern are free on Sundays.
