On Saturday, the German Cyclists’ Association (ADFC) and the Kaiserslautern police come together at the city center to inform the people on cycling and burglary protection. Burglaries are on the rise in the Kaiserslautern community and when the winter comes where it gets dark earlier, there is also an increased risk for people using a bicycle, it is said in a press release from Kaiserslautern police.
Between 8 a.m. to noon, police representatives and people from the ADFC will raise awareness for the problems caused by burglary or the danger when riding a bicycle in the dark.
“Cyclists can have their bikes checked for road safety free of charge — with lights, brakes, and tires being closely examined”, the press release said. And: “There is also the option of having your bike coded. This coding deters thieves and at the same time makes it easier to identify a stolen bike and return it to its rightful owner.”
